Thank you so much! Didn’t realize the solution to my problem was something so simple lol. To throw the lasso further you can actually hold down the right trigger while you aim with the left. The release the right trigger to throw and hold left to keep your target on the line.
The gunfire will usually spook the horse so you’ll have to chase it then use your lasso to stop it. Keep pulling it and attempt to calm it. Avoid approaching behind it since it can still kick the daylights out of you. Mount the horse after calming it and you’ll be able to ride it back to the stable. Next Page.

A tip if you are hunting. Steal a horse and load that up with animals then whistle on your own horse and load that up as well, and then ride the stolen horse with a animal lassoed and have your own horse follow you. Alex. Hold the right click, and when you'll be at reach for him to be catched, the target dot should turn red. Keep the right click pressed and *hold* down the left click to throw the lasso at him and catch him. If he's catched, he'll drop out of his mount immediately.
