The EGR valve is not simply about re-burning exhaust gasses to try to clean up the emissions. In fact, it's more about saving fuel and as a side effect, reducing emissions. In essence it "shrinks" your combustion chamber when the need for power is low. It has absolutely 0 effect on WOT performance and I'll explain why in this article as well as
A EGR systems benefit comes from lowering nox by trading oxygen for inert gases that cannot burn again throughout combustion cycles lowering the amount of molecules exiting from combustion cycles. So your dropping cylinder temperature to lower the amount of molecules becoming nox from the burn.
Assuming you're not familiar with what an EGR does, I'll tell you. It takes Exhaust Gas and Recirculates it. It simply displaces air in the cylinder, making a smaller explosion, this lower heat, and theoretically better fuel economy. So there's two ways it can go "bad". One way it gets stuck open, in this instance it probably won't want to

Could possibly even use the PCM from one if yours is OBD1 to kill the check engine light, though i'm not positive on this.Problems With Deleting Your EGR. First, deleting an engine takes you out of EPA compliance and is illegal. Doing so can lead to fines and other serious penalties. You also run into the issue where your engine warranty is voided and some shops will no longer work on your engine. Aside from that, though, you can actually cause serious damage to When the EGR valve seizes at or near the open position, the 6.0L’s powertrain control module (PCM) will throw a check engine light (CEL) with a P0402 code. When the EGR valve sticks at or near the closed position, a scan tool will pull up a P0401 code. The general consensus in many 6.0L Power Stroke circles is that regular cleaning of the EGR lXco.
